Refrigerated Transport | Hanging Meat Experience Essential

A transport company is looking for a skilled, reliable and professional Code 14 (EC) Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to join its team.

The successful candidate must have solid experience in refrigerated transport, specifically the transportation of hanging meat loads.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

All requirements are non-negotiable:

• Valid Code 14 (EC) Driver’s Licence with at least 5 years’ experience
• No EC1 or C1 licences
• Minimum 5 years’ heavy motor vehicle driving experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience transporting hanging meat in refrigerated vehicles
• Valid PrDP
• South African citizen with valid SA ID and Driver’s Licence
• Between 25 and 65 years of age
• Contactable references from previous employers
• Willing to undergo a criminal background check, or provide a valid criminal record check with the application

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The successful candidate must have:

• Extensive experience operating refrigerated trucks
• Proven experience transporting meat products, particularly hanging meat
• A good understanding of temperature control and maintaining product integrity
• Knowledge of the safe handling and transportation of refrigerated meat loads

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate should:

• Be able to work long and irregular hours
• Have strong route planning and navigation skills
• Understand diesel consumption and fuel-efficient driving techniques
• Have good advanced and defensive driving skills
• Have excellent knowledge of regional and long-haul routes
• Be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English and Afrikaans
• Be medically and physically fit for long-distance driving
• Demonstrate good fatigue management and self-discipline
• Communicate effectively with fleet controllers and customers
• Have knowledge of MAN trucks – advantageous
• Be capable of handling minor repairs and basic breakdown situations
• Have good vehicle-care practices
• Complete daily and weekly vehicle inspections accurately
