GH Transport is looking for highly skilled and experienced cross border long distance Code 14 truck drivers to join our team. We are a leading transportation company that specializes in dangerous goods transportation and Afrox affiliated training and work experience would be an added advantage.

Minimum Criteria:

• Valid identity document
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license
• Valid dangerous goods license
• Over 25 years of age
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in tanker transportation
• Clean driving history and references reflecting no serious accidents and/or driving offences in the past 3 years
• Minimum Grade 10, preferably Grade 12 education
• Ability to obtain a blasting license in the relevant African country
• No criminal record
• Fully vaccinated
• South African national

Responsibilities:

• Safe transportation of dangerous goods across South Africa
• Accurate and up-to-date documentation
• Adherence to all traffic laws and regulations
• Maintaining a safe and clean vehicle
• Reporting incidents or malfunctions to management

Duties:

• Collaborating with maintenance staff to ensure vehicle roadworthiness
• Daily communication with controllers regarding collections and deliveries
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, road safety/dangerous goods regulations, and border customs control
• On-time pick-up and delivery of goods
• Reporting accidents and incidents immediately to the SHERQ manager and Investigator
• Responsibility for the load from loading to off-loading
• Driving responsibly and in a safe manner
• Professional customer service and respect for customers and their staff

• Completion of required documentation
• Daily vehicle checks and reporting of defects
• Adherence to all customer and company safety regulations, and legal requirements
• Maintaining safety equipment and reporting damages
• Responsibility for personal safety and health, as well as that of others on the company’s and customer’s premises
• Compliance with company policies, including the Quality Policy and Drug & Alcohol Policy
• Route planning and staying on route without deviation
• Monitoring fuel consumption and addressing shortages
• Assistance with loading and off-loading, securing and protecting loads
• Hitching and unhitching semi-trailers, trailers, links, and tankers
• Shunting trailers as necessary
• Availability through 24/7 cellphone contact
• Compliance with truck and trailer file regulations and procedures
• Obtaining border clearance as per standard procedure
• General mechanical knowledge is a plus
