The serial killer and rapi_st of Thohoyandou has been sentenced to jail for 255 years.
He received nine life sentences for five murders and four ra_pes, and two sentences of 15 years for robberies. Two of his murder and r_ape victims were only eight and nine-years-old.
Twenty-six-year-old former BSc student, Godfrey Ntsieni, has admitted to killing three women on the campus of the University of Venda and two girls at Golgotha township in Thohoyandou between March and July 2014.
He also rap_ed and robbed his victims. He sat with his head bowed down while acting Judge Jackson Mushasha sentenced him.
The small court room was packed with family and friends. Ntsieni did not show any emotions.
However, emotional scenes played off in the court room as police had to remove the father of the eight-year-old victim.
Some of the sentences will run concurrently, bringing the number of years in jail down to 125. He will only be eligible to apply for parole after he has served the first 25 years.
Relatives said they were happy but the sentence cannot bring back their loved ones. A father to one of the victims said he believed there were more people involved in the killings
Ntsieni apologised to the families on Thursday and also quoted Bible verses.
During the trial a psychologist testified that Ntsieni had a deep rooted hate for women.
During sentencing the judge said all the crimes were premeditated and planned and were brutal. The judge said although Ntsieni apologised and asked the court and the public for forgiveness, he never showed remorse.
