A man in his sixties has been killed after a car and a truck collided at the corner of South Coast Road and Bayhead Road on Friday morning.
Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on scene around 8 am with other services and found the man still in his vehicle. He was in a critical condition and medics performed an emergency extrication immediately.
Once removed from the vehicle the patient went into cardiac arrest and Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked for nearly forty minutes trying to resuscitate him. Unfortunately, the man had suffered extensive injuries and was declared deceased on the scene.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.
At this stage, the exact cause of the collision is unknown however the necessary authorities were on scene and will be investigating further.
