Man held in possession of over R7million at King Shaka Airport

Police have arrested a man at the King Shaka International Airport who was in possession of over R7 million in cash.

Hussain Farouk Motala was on his way to Dubai when he was apprehended by police following a tip off that he is in possession of the huge case.

Motala had failed to disclose the money with Customs Officers at the airport.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says Motala has already appeared before the Verulam Magistrate Court and released on a R60 000 bail.

Zwane says Motala is facing a charge of failing to disclose a large amount of money.

“A 37 year old man has been arrested and appeared on Thursday in the Verulam Magistrate Court facing charges of failing to disclose cash in his possession. The case was remanded until the 20th of May for further investigation. He was released on R60 000 bail,” says Zwane.
