In a shocking incident that has left South Africans reeling, Gauteng police are searching for a motorist implicated in the brutal death of a man following what appears to be a violent love triangle that ended in bloodshed.
The incident unfolded on April 5, 2025, in Rivonia, Sandton and was captured in a now-viral 38-second video clip.
In the footage, the driver of a black Ford Ranger can be seen running over a man several times, while a woman’s desperate screams go unheard.
The victim has since been identified as Emmanuel Mahamba, a Zimbabwean citizen who lived in Centurion, known to work as a bouncer, was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with an unnamed woman, also from Zimbabwe.
However, the woman was allegedly also in a relationship with a Ugandan man, who is believed to be the driver of the Ford Ranger and Mahamba’s killer.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, officers responded to a complaint and found the victim lying on the side of the road with severe injuries.
Paramedics declared him dead on the scene.
“According to information at hand, the victim reportedly argued with the shop owner and allegedly hit the shop owner’s vehicle with a brick, breaking the windscreen.
The shop owner reportedly came out and drove over his body several times before fleeing the scene,” said Nevhuhulwi.
However, further developments suggest this was more than just a shop dispute.
Sources close to the matter allege that the Ugandan suspect, struck Mahamba twice before driving over him at least seven more times, suggesting a deliberate and personal attack.
Mahamba sadly leaves behind a loving wife and child.
A murder case has been opened, and police investigations are ongoing.
“No one has been arrested as yet. All leads to trace the suspect are being followed,” Nevhuhulwi confirmed.
