Motorist Killed in N17 Collision With Truck that Left Both Vehicles Submerged in Water

One person was killed and another injured when an articulated truck collided with a car on the N17 highway near Kinross towards Leandra on Thursday afternoon.

Initial reports suggest that the car dangerously overtook another vehicle and collided head-on with a truck.

The truck continued to push the car until both vehicles left the road and ended up in a small small stream near the highway.

When paramedics arrived on the scene at 14h00, they found both vehicles submerged in the water next to the N17 highway.

“A light motor vehicle was lying on its roof next to the truck beneath the water,” ER24 reported.

The truck driver escaped with only minor injuries.

He was treated and transported to a nearby hospital for further care.

The Search and Rescue Team searched the waters, and after some time, the body of a man believed to be the driver of the car was recovered. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead.

The search and rescue operation continued as the truck driver’s assistant and another man were still missing.

Authorities are investigating the details surrounding the crash.
