Mzimkhulu Bridge Closure: Major Route Disruption for Port Shepstone Motorists

Motorists travelling between Hibberdene and Port Shepstone should brace for major disruptions as the Mzimkhulu Bridge closure is set to take effect from March 12.

According to the Department of Transport (DoT), the Mzimkhulu Bridge, located at the northern exit and entrance to Port Shepstone, will be closed for six months to allow for essential repairs and rehabilitation.

The DoT confirmed that the closure will commence on Wednesday, March 12, at 14:00.

This bridge is a crucial link for travellers between Hibberdene and Port Shepstone.

Additionally, many motorists from the north of Port Shepstone use the R102 as an alternative to the tolled N2.

With the closure in place, affected drivers are advised to use alternative routes such as the P464 and the N2.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
