The N1 is closed near Ingwe Hotel outside Makhado towards Musina in Limpopo following a multiple vehicle accident involving a bus, 2 trucks and two cars.
It is reported that a Zimbabwe bound bus overturned after the bus driver failed to negotiate a curve.
While paramedics were busy attending to the injured, a truck then ploughed into the vehicles stacked up on the scene.
“I saw a truck approach at full speed, it crashed into the truck at the back of the queue then into two other vehicles before resting onto the overturned bus,” a witness told SA Trucker.
20 people have been confirmed injured.
The Limpopo Traffic Department has confirmed that the N1 is closed.
Motorists are advised to use Witlag turn off as alternative route. Motorists are urged to be cautious and patient.
Meanwhile, a Greyhound bus driver was killed in yet another bus accident on the N3 at Van Reenens Pass.
The bus collided with a truck in yet unknown circumstances.
Six patients with minor injuries were transported to the hospital, while one fatality and serious injury have been reported.
38 minor injuries have also been reported.
