N11 Closed After LPG Tanker Overturns Near Kranspoort Pass

The N11 has been closed in both directions near Kranspoort Pass, after a gas tanker carrying Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) overturned this afternoon.

The crash happened just before the Kranspoort entrance near Voetpadkloof between Groblersdal and Middelburg.

The tanker rolled and is currently leaking LPG, making the area extremely hazardous.

Emergency services, including Hazmat units, are on the scene working to contain the situation.

The road has been completely closed from both the Groblersdal and Middelburg sides as a precaution.

“There is a serious gas leak. The area is very dangerous, and we urge all motorists to stay away and find alternative routes,” officials warned.

At this stage, no injuries have been confirmed, but authorities have not released an estimate for when the road will be reopened.

The clean-up and recovery process is expected to be lengthy, considering the flammable nature of the cargo.

Drivers heading towards the area should expect long delays and are advised to use alternative routes until further notice.
