N11 Closed at Kranspoort Pass After Fiery Crash Involving Two Trucks

A serious collision involving a fuel tanker, a side tipper truck and a bakkie has brought traffic to a standstill on the N11 through Kranspoort Pass this morning.

The crash, which happened just after 07:00, resulted in the trucks catching fire and a significant diesel spillage in the area.

Motorists reported seeing thick black smoke rising from the pass as flames engulfed the wreckage. Emergency services responded swiftly, but the situation remains hazardous, with the risk of explosions due to the flammable cargo.

Road Angels SA, who shared a video from the scene, have urged all motorists to avoid the pass until further notice.

Diesel is reported to have spilled across the road surface, making it unsafe for travel and complicating firefighting efforts.

At this stage, the condition of the drivers is not yet known. Authorities are working to bring the fire under control and start the cleanup and recovery process.

Motorists travelling between Middelburg and Groblersdal are advised to seek alternative routes and allow emergency crews space to work.
