The N11 has been closed to traffic following a serious crash involving an articulated truck and a passenger vehicle in the Kranspoort Pass area, with emergency services still battling to reach and secure the scene.
Early reports from local traffic monitoring groups indicate that the accident happened just moments ago and has left the route completely blocked. A significant diesel spill has also been reported, raising further safety concerns for motorists and response crews working in the area.
According to initial information, a truck and a light motor vehicle were involved in the collision. In addition to the wrecked vehicles, a shipping container that was being carried by the truck reportedly came loose during the impact and was dropped directly onto the roadway, worsening the blockage.
Traffic in the pass is currently at a complete standstill. Motorists have been warned to avoid the N11 in the Kranspoort area and to expect major delays on surrounding alternative routes as congestion builds.
At this stage, no serious injuries have been officially confirmed, although emergency responders are still making their way to the scene to assess the full extent of the incident and provide assistance where needed.
