N2 Tinley Manor bus crash leaves 75 people injured

75 people have been injured after the bus they were travelling in crashed into a temporary concrete barrier and overturned on the N2 highway at Tinley Manor in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.

According to Medi Response, reporting from the scene, the bus accident happened around 03h00 this morning.

“Paramedics responded to reports of the bus crash shortly after 03h00. On arrival it was established that a bus had been travelling from Umzimkulu to Nongoma, when it struck a barrier and overturned,” Medi Response said.

“At this stage triage has indicated that two persons are seriously injured, seven moderately injured and a further 66 have sustained minor injuries making a total of 75 patients.

Medi Response said that jaws of life had to be used to free one of the seriously injured passengers.

The South African Police Services were on scene and will investigate further.
