N2 to N3 Ramp Shut This Weekend for EB Cloete Upgrade

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) has announced a temporary closure of the N2 northbound to N3 eastbound ramp at the EB Cloete Interchange, also known as “Spaghetti Junction,” from 18:00 on Saturday, 11 October 2025, until 04:00 on Monday, 13 October 2025.

According to SANRAL, the closure is necessary to allow for underground excavation and foundational work beneath the ramps as part of the ongoing EB Cloete Interchange upgrade project.

“These works are part of the broader improvements to the interchange,” said Jason Lowe, SANRAL’s KwaZulu-Natal Specialist Geometrics Engineer. “The temporary closure is necessary to accommodate construction activity in a safe and controlled manner.”

During the closure, traffic accommodation and detour signage will be in place to guide motorists safely through alternative routes. SANRAL has urged drivers to plan ahead, expect delays, and comply with reduced speed limits within the construction zone.

Truckers and other heavy vehicle operators are being asked to delay their trips or use staging areas over the affected period to reduce congestion. Public transport operators have also been advised to inform their drivers and commuters about the route changes in advance.
