N3 Durban-bound Closed After Serious Truck Crash Near Bergville Toll Gate

The N3 Durban-bound has been shut down this Friday morning following a serious truck crash just after the Bergville toll gate.

According to truck drivers stuck in the backlog, a truck towing tautliner superlink trailers overturned and came to rest across both Durban-bound lanes, leaving the road completely blocked.

A video sent to SA Trucker from the scene shows a massive build-up of traffic stretching back from the crash site. At the time of reporting, no authorities had arrived on scene.

Some traffic is currently being diverted through the centre meridian, but this is expected to cause massive delays until the overturned truck is removed and lanes are reopened.

The condition of the truck driver is not yet known, and the cause of the crash remains unclear. Recovery operations are expected to take several hours before traffic can flow smoothly again.

Road users travelling towards Durban are advised to expect long delays and to consider alternative routes where possible.
