The N4 eastbound carriageway has been closed this Friday morning following a truck fire that left the road obstructed. Recovery teams are currently on scene conducting clean-up operations.
The truck driver, who was driving towards Nelspruit, managed to escape without injuries. Speaking at the scene, he said the incident began with a loud bang.

“I heard a bang while driving and when I checked my rear-view mirror I saw flames. I stopped, but the fire was too fierce. I could only watch as my truck burned,” he said.
Louwtjie Swart of Louw’s Towing and Recovery confirmed that the N4 remains closed just after the Van Dykdrif off-ramp, heading east.

“We are busy recovering the truck and clearing the scene. This process will take some time,” Swart explained.

Authorities have advised motorists travelling towards Nelspruit to take the Van Dykdrif off-ramp, pass through the town, and rejoin the N4 at the Bethal off-ramp.
Traffic is expected to be delayed until the clean-up operation is completed.
