A Nissan UD tipper truck was hijacked, and its salesman was abducted during what appeared to be a routine test drive in Bredel, Gauteng, on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 13:00 on 20 June 2026 at Rokon Plant Truck Sales in Highroad, Bredel, where three men reportedly arrived to inspect a white 2018 Nissan UD 450 10-ton tipper that was being offered for sale.
According to information received, the suspects requested a test drive of the vehicle before allegedly hijacking the truck and taking the salesman with them.
The salesman was later dropped off unharmed in Germiston, while the suspects fled with the truck.
The stolen vehicle is described as a white Nissan UD 450 10-ton tipper bearing registration number DD 45 GW ZN and engine number GH13614843. The vehicle was reportedly not fitted with a tracking device.
Investigators are also looking for a white Suzuki Ertiga with registration MP 56 TP GP, which is believed to have been used by the suspects. Three male suspects were reportedly involved in the incident.
Growing Concern for Truck Dealerships
The hijacking has raised concerns about the methods criminals are using to target commercial vehicles and truck dealerships.

Industry stakeholders say criminals are increasingly using legitimate enquiries and test drive requests to gain access to high-value trucks before carrying out thefts or hijackings.
Commercial vehicle dealerships, truck traders, plant equipment yards and fleet sellers are being urged to review their security procedures when conducting test drives.
Recommended precautions include verifying identification documents, confirming contact details, maintaining communication during test drives and ensuring vehicles are equipped with active tracking devices.
