Musina – One person has been killed in a serious crash involving a cross-border bus, a bakkie, and an articulated truck on the N1 northbound, just before the weighbridge outside Musina, about five kilometres from the Beitbridge border post.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Preliminary reports indicate that the Zimbabwe-bound bus crashed into a stationary bakkie that had reportedly broken down on the side of the road. The impact caused the bus to veer into the path of an oncoming articulated truck, resulting in a collision with the trailer.
One person was confirmed dead on the scene. At the time of publishing, authorities were still working to determine from which of the three vehicles the deceased had been travelling.
Emergency services and law enforcement responded swiftly to the scene. The N1 was closed for a short period to allow for investigations and the clearing of the wreckage.
