One person has been killed in a collision on the R102 in Isipingo, south of Durban. The crash occurred just after 11am this morning, involving two vehicles and a truck.
ALS Paramedics arrived to find a chaotic scene, with one vehicle and the truck veering off the road into nearby bushes. Two people were trapped inside one of the cars.
Tragically, the passenger—a man believed to be in his thirties—sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The driver, also in his thirties, suffered critical injuries and required advanced medical intervention. Paramedics stabilized him and placed him on a mechanical ventilator before summoning the Air Mercy Aeromedical Helicopter for rapid transport to Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital.
The two occupants of the truck sustained moderate injuries and were treated on-site before being taken to a nearby hospital.
Authorities closed the roadway temporarily as emergency crews cleared the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with SAPS and Metro Police on the scene to gather evidence.
