In a move stirring considerable attention, Junfeng, a brand under Dongfeng, has unveiled the Junfeng DF9—a Chinese replica of the Scania S—at the COMvex 2024 exhibition in Moscow.

According to Autopotok, this model is specifically targeted at the Russian market.

The truck, currently presented in a pre-series version, boasts both classic mirrors and advanced video cameras, with expected deliveries starting in October.

The similarities between the exterior of the Junfeng DF9 and the Scania S are striking, making it difficult to distinguish between the two models from a distance.

On the technical front, the DF9 is equipped with a 13-litre Euro 5 Cummins engine capable of producing 560 hp.

The gearboxes, manufactured in China under licenses from Eaton or ZF, further enhance the truck’s performance.

The Junfeng DF9 is priced at approximately 11 million rubles, roughly R2 million. It comes with a three-year warranty, making it a competitive option in the market.

Interestingly, Dongfeng does not plan to sell this Scania S look-alike in China, focusing instead on the Russian market.

The manufacturer seems wary of potential legal conflicts with Scania within China and other markets.

However, in Russia, where importation of foreign goods produced without the consent of copyright holders hasn’t been structly sanctioned, Dongfeng faces fewer legal hurdles.

As international sanctions reshape market dynamics, the Junfeng DF9’s launch underscores the evolving landscape of the global truck industry.
