Crime does not pay – ask this trucker.

A truck driver’s plan to make quick bucks by transporting drugs was spoiled by hawkeye Northern Cape cops last week.

It is reported that on Saturday 06 June 2020 at about 23:00, while patrolling on the N7 road near Okiep, Springbok Public Order Policing unit members noticed a suspicious-looking Mercedes Benz truck and immediately stopped and searched it.

The truck was loaded with essential food and was en route from the Western Cape to Namibia.

Cops found 4552 Mandrax tablets, 395g Tik and 126kg dagga hidden in the groceries.

The suspect was also found in possession of cash of more than R5 000,00.

The 50-year-old trucker was arrested and the R1,2 million drug haul confiscated.
