A runaway side tipper interlink caused chaos this morning when it crashed into the Oshoek border post from the South African side at what witnesses described as “very high speeds.”
The truck, suspected to have lost its brakes, left a trail of destruction before slamming into one of the border post buildings, bringing down a section of the wall and roof.
Six vehicles were struck along the truck’s destructive path, leaving mangled wreckage in its wake.
According to a witness, the truck’s approach was erratic, with no sign of slowing down as it careened towards the border facility.
The driver of the truck sustained injuries, although the extent of his condition remains unclear at this time. Another individual reportedly suffered minor injuries. Emergency services were quick to respond, with medics attending to the injured while authorities began assessing the damage.

The crash disrupted operations at the busy border post, as officials scrambled to cordon off the area and reroute traffic. Truckers are warned to expect massive delays as authorities attend to the accident scene.
This incident occurred just a month after another truck lost its brakes and crashed into the same border post, raising concerns about the safety of the road approaching the facility.
Authorities are urged to implement measures to prevent such accidents from becoming a recurring issue.
Meanwhile, truck drivers should always ensure their trucks are roadworthy before hitting the road.
