Authorities and family members are appealing to the public for assistance in locating 48-year-old truck driver Roshan Budree, who has been missing since Wednesday after his truck was allegedly hijacked in Gauteng.

Budree, a resident of Earlsfield Drive in Newlands West, KwaZulu-Natal, is a long-distance trucker who regularly travels cross-country.

On Wednesday at approximately 16:30, he made a video call to his wife and informed her that he was travelling from Gauteng to Richards Bay with a load of metal plates.

Missing truck driver roshan budree

Later that same afternoon, his truck was discovered abandoned in Heidelberg, Gauteng.

The trailer, which was carrying the load, was missing. Personal belongings belonging to Budree were still inside the cab, raising concerns that he may have been forcibly removed from the vehicle.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain unclear, but it is suspected that he may have fallen victim to a hijacking.

Police have confirmed that a missing person’s case has been opened, and investigations are underway.

Family members have described Budree’s disappearance as deeply distressing and have pleaded with the public to assist in locating him. Anyone with information that may help in the investigation is urged to contact their nearest police station immediately or contact 0797744599.
