The R101 through Du Toitskloof Pass has been closed in both directions following a serious head-on collision involving multiple trucks and light motor vehicles.
The crash occurred near the Old Tunnel on the Worcester side of the pass. Early reports indicate that multiple trucks and passenger vehicles were involved in the collision, with several people reported injured. The exact number of casualties and the extent of the injuries have not yet been confirmed.
Emergency services are on scene treating the injured while rescue and recovery operations are underway.
The road has been closed to all traffic in both directions, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
Drivers travelling through the region should expect significant delays and make use of alternative routes where possible until the scene has been cleared.
