Search for Missing Diesel Mechanic Continues After His Blood-Stained Cruiser Found in Louis Trichardt

The search is intensifying for 22-year-old diesel mechanic Reuben Marsberg, who vanished under troubling circumstances in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo, late Wednesday night.

Marsberg was last seen on 26 November 2025 at around 21:00, and since then, no one has been able to reach him. His phone has been going straight to voicemail, and his last known location pinged somewhere near the Makhado Local Municipality.

When his brother couldn’t get hold of him on Thursday morning, alarm bells started ringing. Marsberg was supposed to fetch him from his girlfriend’s place the night before, but never pitched up. The brother eventually made his way to Reuben’s home using public transport, only to find the house unlocked and the young mechanic nowhere to be found.

Inside the home, things looked even more suspicious. Several items were missing, including a TV, PlayStation, Wi-Fi router, mattress, blanket, and even a boat and trailer. His cream Toyota Land Cruiser, registration BV 35 JT ZN, which had a grey toolbox inside, was also gone.

Marsberg, who recently moved from KwaZulu-Natal to Louis Trichardt for work, is described as 1.75 metres tall with brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue overalls and slops.

Police later located the missing Land Cruiser, but the discovery only deepened concerns. Traces of blood were reportedly found inside the vehicle. Specialised K9 units were immediately brought in to sweep the surrounding area, but so far, no breakthrough has been made.

Marsberg’s disappearance is being treated as suspicious, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen him or knows his whereabouts to come forward.

The Marsberg family, friends, and the broader Louis Trichardt community remain hopeful as the search continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact their nearest police station.
