On 29 July 2025, something amazing happened – SA Trucker officially hit 1 million followers on Facebook. A number that once felt impossible is now a reality. And it’s all thanks to you – the truckers, families, fans, and freight warriors who’ve supported the page from day one.
This journey began on 1 May 2016, when a Durban-based truck driver working for a local transport company created a small Facebook page aimed at entertaining and informing truckers across South Africa. No fancy office. No team. Just one guy, on the road, with a smartphone and a vision. That vision was simple – keep truckers connected, entertained, and in the know.
Back then, it was more of a side hustle to kill time during layovers. But the community caught on quickly. Truckers from Joburg to Cape Town, Durban to Upington – even across SADC borders – joined the ride. As social media grew into the go-to platform for news and updates, SA Trucker’s relevance skyrocketed.
By 2022, the demand for real-time, raw, and relevant trucking content had grown so big that the admin made a bold move – he parked the rig for good to focus full-time on the page. From that moment, it was like flipping the switch to high gear.
Today, SA Trucker stands proudly as the biggest trucker-based Facebook page in the world. It’s more than just content – it’s a movement. We give truckers a voice, shine a light on their daily hustle, and raise awareness around road safety, working conditions, and crime that plague the industry.
We’ve helped recover hijacked trucks, exposed dangerous roads, and called out poor treatment of drivers. But we’ve also connected job-seekers with employers, and even facilitated opportunities for South African drivers to work in Europe. With your support, we’ve had tough conversations with businesses serving truckers – pushing them to do better by the people who move the economy.
Every post, every update, every shared experience is powered by real truckers, telling real stories. And that’s what makes SA Trucker more than just a page – it’s a family.
As we celebrate this 1 million milestone, we salute every driver, every fan, every sharer, and every commenter who made this possible.
Here’s to the next million. Let’s keep it moving – one load at a time. Enter the #SATrucker #1MillionStrong Photo Competition here
