South Africans are struggling with huge financial burdens after not being paid their full salaries or put on forced unpaid leave as businesses were forced to close during the ongoing Covid-19 national lockdown.
The government set up the Covid-19 Temporary Employee/Employer Relief Scheme (TERS) to give assistance by offering special payouts to people who have been affected.
However, some employees have complained of companies who receive the payouts but fail to transfer into their accounts.
“My boss keeps on telling me that he is waiting and nothing has yet arrived, I’m afraid if I corner him with evidence that he was paid, he may start victimizing me, he always does that,” said one Durban trucker from a well-known company known to SA Trucker.
Employees are now able to check on the UIF Covid-19 TERS national disaster application system website to see if their employer has received the funds.
