In what can only be described as a remarkable feat of unity and swift action, SA Trucker played a central role in the recovery of a hijacked truck, trailers, and a full load of alcohol cargo in Witbank this Saturday morning.
The saga began in the early hours when a vigilant member of the public spotted a suspicious tautliner superlink trailer parked in a secluded area. On approaching it, the individual noticed a few people working on it who quickly scattered upon realising they’d been seen, raising immediate red flags.
Not wasting any time, the Good Samaritan sent a message to SA Trucker. At the time, the admin was still busy setting up for the day when the alert came in. With no direct information about the truck or trailer’s owners, SA Trucker turned to the power of the community, posting images and details on the Facebook page asking for help.
Within just a few hours, the post gained traction. One of the followers recognised the trailers and connected the dots, eventually alerting the owners, who, shockingly, were not yet aware that their truck had been hijacked.

The police were called in to secure the scene and protect the cargo – a full load of alcohol – until the owners arrived. The relieved transport company couldn’t believe their luck, expressing heartfelt gratitude to SA Trucker and the community for jumping in before serious losses were incurred.
But the story wasn’t over.
The truck was still missing. Once again, SA Trucker swung into action and issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert for the missing horse. Minutes later, truckers began reporting sightings of the abandoned truck on the R545 near Kriel.
That information was swiftly passed on to the police and the tracking company. In true textbook fashion, the team rushed to the scene and recovered the truck, all intact. The cherry on top? The driver was found safe and unharmed.
This entire operation, from tip-off to full recovery, unfolded within a matter of hours, proving that when the trucking community comes together, nothing is impossible.
From the Admin: “Big ups to the truckers, vigilant community members and the police who made this happen. This is why we do what we do – for the love of the road and our fellow truckers. Salute!”
