KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested one truck hijacking suspect while another one escaped following a shootout between police and two suspects near Pinetown on Saturday.
SAPS Umlazi K9 and ET Rapid Response TRT acted on information received regarding a tanker truck that was reported hijacked.
The police members managed to locate and intercept the truck along the M7 near Pinetown.
Two suspects alighted from the truck and allegedly started firing shots at the police and a shootout ensued.
One suspect sustained gunshot wounds and was arrested. The second suspect unfortunately managed to escape.
Police did not reveal more information about where and how the hijacking occurred.
