Temporary Night Closures at EB Cloete (Spaghetti Junction) This Weekend

Durban – SANRAL has issued a traffic advisory for Durban motorists using the EB Cloete Interchange – famously known as Spaghetti Junction – announcing two temporary overnight closures affecting traffic from Pinetown (N3 Eastbound) heading towards Amanzimtoti (N2 Southbound).

The closures form part of ongoing ramp-widening works and will allow for critical road maintenance, including milling, barrier placement, water jetting, and line marking.

Here’s what you need to know:

The flyover bridge connecting the N3 Eastbound to the N2 Southbound will be fully closed during the following times:

• Saturday, 17 May 2025 from 20:00 to Sunday, 18 May 2025 at 05:00
• Sunday, 18 May 2025 from 20:00 to Monday, 19 May 2025 at 05:00

Importantly, the rest of the EB Cloete Interchange will remain open – only the direct flyover from Pinetown to Amanzimtoti is affected.

Detour Instructions:

If you’re travelling from Pinetown on the N3 Eastbound and intending to head south towards Amanzimtoti:

1. Stay on the N3 Eastbound past EB Cloete Interchange.

2. Exit at Sherwood Interchange.

3. Turn right onto Jan Smuts Highway (M13).

4. Turn right again to rejoin the N3 Eastbound.

5. Then take the N2 Southbound offramp towards Amanzimtoti at EB Cloete.
