Ten Killed in Free State Truck and Bus Crash on N8 Outside Bloemfontein

A shocking update has emerged following the earlier developing report on the serious collision between a truck and a bus on the N8 near Mandela View outside Bloemfontein on Friday.

Authorities have now confirmed that ten people have died in the crash.

The accident happened about 5 kilometres from Mandela View on the route toward Botshabelo. The violent impact left the bus badly damaged and scattered debris across the road, forcing a full scale emergency response.

Paramedics, fire services and traffic officials spent hours at the scene tending to the injured and working through the wreckage.

According to the Free State Department of Health, a total of 41 people were involved in the crash. Six patients sustained severe and critical injuries and were rushed to Pelonomi Trauma Unit.

Seven others with moderate injuries were transported to Botshabelo Hospital and Busamed. Twenty four people who suffered minor injuries were also taken to Botshabelo Hospital for further medical care.

Tragically ten people were declared dead on the scene. One patient was assessed by responders but refused transport to hospital.

The South African Police Service and the Free State Department of Health have confirmed the fatalities and are continuing to coordinate response efforts.

Details regarding the cause of the crash are still under investigation.

Traffic remains heavily affected with long delays reported as officials continue clearing the road. Motorists travelling between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo are urged to approach the area with patience and caution or use alternate routes to avoid the congestion. Recovery teams are expected to work late into the evening.
