Three people have tragically lost their lives while nine others were left injured in a horrific crash involving an articulated can truck and a taxi on the R22 between Mbazwana and Hluhluwe early Sunday morning.
According to reports from the scene, the taxi was reportedly stationary on the roadside in the Mduku area when the truck rammed into it from behind, leaving a trail of mangled wreckage.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and confirmed that three people were declared dead on impact. Nine others sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious and were transported to Mduku Clinic and Mseleni Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The exact circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear.

Traffic was severely affected along the R22 route for several hours as officials cleared the scene and launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.
