Three Killed, 48 Injured in Tragic Truck Accident Near Strydom Tunnel on R36

A devastating truck accident on the R36 near Strydom Tunnel claimed the lives of three people and left 48 others seriously injured on Tuesday, 25 February 2025.

According to reports, a truck transporting workers lost control while descending the mountain, failing to negotiate a sharp horseshoe bend. The vehicle overturned into a deep ditch, resulting in a catastrophic crash.

Emergency services, along with rescue teams from Polokwane, swiftly responded to the scene to assist the injured. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
