Koppies, Free State – Three truck drivers lost their lives in a devastating head-on collision on the N1 near Koppies in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The fatal crash occurred around 04h00 between Vaal Plaza and Kroonstad, leaving the scene littered with wreckage.
According to preliminary reports, two trucks collided head-on, killing the driver of one truck and both the driver and co-driver of the other vehicle.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but tragically, all three men succumbed to their injuries before they could receive medical attention.
Authorities worked to clear the road while traffic officials diverted motorists away from the area.
At this stage, the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, and an investigation is underway to determine what led to the deadly crash.

Motorists travelling on the N1 between Vaal Plaza and Kroonstad were advised to seek alternative routes as authorities conducted rescue and recovery operations.
