Thunderstorm warning for motorists in KZN

Durban – Motorists are warned of impending thunderstoms in the northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal which will cause driving conditions to be dangerous.

SA Trucker advises motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and keep checking updates on the change of weather.

When driving in rainy conditions, motorists are advised to increase the following distance and reduce speed to reduce the chances of a crash.

Disaster management teams have been placed on high alert with severe thunderstorms expected to hit the province on Wednesday night.

The South African Weather Service issued a warning, with heavy downpours forecast for the north-eastern parts KwaZulu-Natal, extending into Thursday.

Weather forecaster, Wisani Maluleke says the storms will be accompanied by strong winds.

Heavy rainfall in April this year caused widespread flooding killing 85 people in the province.

Department Of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila has urged vulnerable communities to pay close attention to weather changes.
