TNPA haulier driver permit applications extended

Transnet National Port authority (TNPA) has announced an extension to the deadline for the haulier driver registration process due to the high number of applications and system performance issues.

Port of Cape Town Security Officer, Arshaad Fester announced the extension in a letter addressed to port users.

Fester wrote;

It is with great pleasure that we announce the high level of compliance by the Port of Cape
Town Community to the Security Notice 5: Haulier Driver Registration that was published on the 8th of March 2021.

Due to the high number of applications received, together with intermitted systems
performance issue, the Port Security Department is working round the clock to process all
applications.

We have also been notified that the system error that occurred prevented the issue of reference number notifications to applicants. We would like to assure all applicants that their applications have been received.

In order to provide adequate time to process and issue the haulier driver permits, Transnet
National Ports Authority will be extending the deadline for issue of access cards to Monday,
31 May 2021. All interim measures previously communicated will also be extended to this
date.

The deadline for applications for haulier driver permits had initially been set for end of this month but now another full month has been added.
