A 40-year-old man, identified as Peter Baatjies, was shot and killed while driving on the R75 towards KwaDwesi on Tuesday, leading to a crash with a truck.
According to police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, a vehicle pulled up alongside Baatjies’ Toyota Fortuner around midday and opened fire.
The shooting caused Baatjies to lose control of his vehicle, which then collided with a stationary truck at the intersection of R75 and Chelsea Road.

He died on the scene.
“The motive and suspects are currently unknown, and a police investigation is underway,” said Captain Janse van Rensburg.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
