Motorists using the N3 Toll Route are advised to exercise extreme caution as disruptions persist following a crash involving an abnormal load truck earlier today.
The vehicle, carrying a 120-ton transformer, overturned near Van Reenen town, leaving both the northbound and southbound fast lanes blocked at N3 6X 57.4.
While recovery teams have managed to clear the overturned horse and trailer, one lane in each direction has been reopened to traffic.
However, the transformer remains on-site, requiring highly specialised equipment and technical expertise for its removal.
This recovery operation is expected to take an extended period.
N3TC has urged motorists to approach the area carefully, particularly at night or during poor weather conditions when visibility is reduced.
“Adhere to road signage, follow advance warnings, and prioritise safety to avoid accidents in the affected area,” said N3TC Thania Dhoogra.
