trucks jam the bayhead area

As Received and unedited
To concerned abused transporters and their employees

Time has come for change . Despite all the undertakings commitments and ministerial visits we were not given a platform to demonstrate the losses we suffer as a result of the Ports inefficiencies.

The increased delays and waiting times have tripled labour charges ,grown emissions due to higher fuel consumption . The Port of Durban is no longer recognized as a gateway to AFRICA it is now one of the worst performing ports chasing away imports and investments .

Transporters are being subjected to penalties ( early arrivals / late arrivals / port storage and container demmurage) and most of the time by entities that are shipping lines and clearing agents.
Our drivers are facing inhumane conditions , which ultimately we as truck owners are responsible for , cause we choose to accept what we are being dished out / thrown in our faces from the ports and customers.

IT HAS TO STOP WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

We as trucks owners simply cannot make ends meet and need to take a stand before OUR DOORS CLOSE, which has happened to few of our fellow colleague’s.

Join all container transport operators in a staying away from the ports of Durban by parking off at your depots from 28th November 06h00 until 02nd December 18h00. This will impact fuel levies road levies, taxes etc

TRANSPORTERS ARE TRYING TO SAVE SOUTH AFRICA’S Reputation! Help us by taking a decision to stand with us.
