Truck and 2 car pile up claims a life and 2 seriously injured

Pretoria- A truck collided with two cars in a fatal multi-vehicle collision on the N1 South between the N4 interchange and the Lynwood Road off ramp, in Lynwood on Sunday morning.

Two cars and a truck were involved in the collision which caused one of the cars to roll, leaving one person dead, and three others injured.

Two patients were found to be in a critical condition and required immediate Advanced Life Support interventions. The third person sustained minor injuries.

One of the critical patients sustained a serious head injury and was placed on Life Support, while the Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter was activated to airlift the patient to a nearby Level 1 Specialist Trauma Hospital for urgent surgical intervention.

The two other patients were stabilised on-scene before being transported by road to a nearby hospital.

The exact cause of the collision is unclear, and will be under investigation by the South African Police Services specialist Accident Investigation Unit.
