The Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) together with SAPS have busted a truck transporting illicit cigarettes worth an estimated R13 million on the N12 near the Etwatwa offramp near Daveyton in Gauteng.

“We have busted this truck, we had actually intercepted information that this truck would be coming from Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge border post,” said Ekurhuleni Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community Safety Councillor Pheladi Mmoko speaking at the scene of the bust.

“It is full of illicit cigarettes to the value of approximately R13 million,” he added.
