A devastating crash on the N2 just outside Pongola, towards Piet Retief, has claimed the lives of a truck driver and a person inside a house after a side tipper truck left the road and crashed into the property.
The heartbreaking incident happened near the Nyamane River, leaving two families facing an unimaginable loss.
According to information available to SA Trucker, the side tipper truck was travelling along the N2 when it somehow left the roadway and crashed into a house alongside the route.
The impact was devastating.
The truck driver was killed in the crash, while one of the occupants of the house also lost their life.
At this stage, it is not known what caused the truck driver to lose control of the vehicle. The circumstances leading up to the crash will have to be established through the relevant investigation.
For the family of the person who was inside the house, what should have been an ordinary day has ended in tragedy. They were not travelling on the road or involved in whatever happened before the truck left the N2, yet they have now lost a loved one.
For the truck driver’s family, there is also the devastating reality of losing someone who was simply out doing their job.
