A truck driver is recovering from serious injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by three white males, believed to be a father and his two sons, on Oranjekuil Farm in Hoopstad, Free State.
According to the driver, the brutal incident unfolded after he accidentally grazed the edge of the warehouse door while reversing to offload goods.
Speaking to SA Trucker, the visibly shaken driver recounted the harrowing ordeal. “I was reversing carefully, but I misjudged the space and my trailer scraped the side of the door. Before I could even explain, they came out swearing, dragged me into the warehouse, and started beating me. All three of them took turns hitting me while their dog was biting me too,” he said.
The driver sustained multiple injuries, including a swollen jaw and the loss of two teeth. Bloodied and bruised, he managed to drive himself to Bultfontein SAPS, where he laid charges of assault against the alleged perpetrators, Cas 122/06/2025. At the time of publishing, no arrests had been made.

Truckers across the country have expressed outrage, with many calling for immediate action. Daniel Mofokeng, spokesperson for Truckers Agenda, condemned the incident strongly:
“This is a pure act of criminality, directed at our fellow colleague. This indicates the high levels of disparity—unfair treatment—along racial lines, directed particularly at black people. We believe this is a clear criminal matter which should be dealt with as such. The Law Enforcement Agency, in this instance the SAPS, must make sure that the perpetrators are brought to book and account for their misdemeanours.”
Mofokeng went on to say:
“Truck drivers cannot continue to be sitting ducks for racially charged violence. If law enforcement fails to act, we fear drivers may feel compelled to defend themselves by any means necessary. We urge SAPS to act decisively to prevent further violence and restore trust.”
One furious comment on a popular trucking forum echoed the anger: “So we risk our lives every day to deliver goods to these people, and this is how they treat us? This ain’t just about the door, it’s about disrespect and racism. We need answers, and we need them now!”
SA Trucker was unable to reach the farm for comment. We will continue to follow this story closely.
