A truck driver tragically lost his life after jumping from his runaway vehicle at the intersection of the N10 and N9 earlier today.
The accident took place on the notorious Winterhoek slope, where the truck appeared to have lost its brakes, according to witnesses.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the terrifying moment when the truck, which was descending the steep slope, began careening uncontrollably toward the intersection.
The driver, realizing that the truck would not stop, reportedly made the desperate decision to jump out of the vehicle.
Tragically, the driver died on the spot after leaping from the truck.
Although the truck itself did not run over him, the impact from the fall proved fatal.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, but there was nothing they could do to save the driver.
