Truck Driver Feared Dead After Fiery Crash Near Featherstone on Harare – Beitbridge Highway

A truck driver is feared dead following a horrific collision involving a Heymans Kole truck and a bus on the Harare – Beitbridge highway, approximately 20 kilometres before Featherstone.

According to preliminary information from the scene, the truck and bus collided before the truck caught fire. The truck driver is believed to have been trapped inside the cab as flames engulfed the vehicle. Unconfirmed reports indicate that he may have perished in the blaze.

The Heymans Kole bus reportedly veered off the roadway and came to a stop in the nearby bush after the impact. The bus driver sustained injuries and was attended to following the crash.

Passengers on board the bus are believed to have escaped without injury, although authorities have not yet released an official statement confirming the extent of casualties.

Graphic videos circulating on social media show the truck fully alight, with thick black smoke billowing into the air as bystanders look on.

The Harare – Beitbridge route is a key transport corridor linking Zimbabwe to South Africa and carries a high volume of heavy commercial traffic daily. Crashes along this stretch often have devastating consequences due to speed, fatigue, and long-distance haulage pressures.
