A truck driver fled the scene on foot after crashing a white Powerstar tipper truck into a tree on Fairview Drive, Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday afternoon.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), concerned residents contacted their operations centre for assistance. Reaction officers were dispatched and arrived at the scene around 15:36.
Upon arrival, officers found the truck had crashed into a tree shortly after leaving a nearby construction site.
Witnesses reported that the driver sustained a head injury and was bleeding but still managed to flee on foot before emergency personnel arrived. His reasons for running away remain unknown.
Authorities are investigating the incident while efforts to locate the driver continue.
