A Cape Town based truck driver is mourning the death of his wife, two kids and his little sister after they perished in a head-on crash on N1 in Limpopo on Tuesday night.
It started as an exciting long drive from Cape Town to Harare but ended in the most horrific way after their car crashed head-on with another car.
The man’s young family died on the spot, his wife and two daughters aged 9 and 5 and the driver of the other vehicle.
He survived the collision with minor injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.
Reports from the scene suggest that their car swerved to avoid a trailer which unhitched from the vehicle they were following behind. In that manouvre the vehicle encroached onto oncoming traffic colliding with a Toyota bakkie.
The Toyota bakkie driver and all the passengers in the man’s car died in the crash.
Limpopo traffic authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
