A truck driver has gone missing after losing control of his truck and crashing into a house off the N1 south near Stormvoel Road in Kilner Park, Tshwane.
The incident occurred early on Sunday morning at around 03:41 AM when the truck, loaded with Miranda beverages, veered off the road and overturned, causing significant damage to a home on Kamferbos Street.
Emergency responders from Tshwane Emergency Management Services were quickly on the scene, with a fire truck and a rapid intervention unit from Innesdale Fire Station arriving first.
According to spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni, the firefighters immediately began rescue operations and called for additional support.
The house had two occupants, a male and a female, who sustained minor injuries and were transported to Montana Hospital and 1 Military Hospital by private ambulances.
Despite a comprehensive search effort, the truck driver remains unaccounted for.
Additional resources, including units from Central and Hatfield Fire Stations, a ladder, a fire truck, a video unit, a district commander’s unit, and even a K9 search unit, were deployed to locate the missing driver.
However, as of 15:00, there was no sign of the driver, despite more than twelve hours of careful work, including removing the truck’s cargo and parts of the house’s structure.
The City of Tshwane Emergency Services Department is continuing their search and investigation into the cause of the accident.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating the missing driver.
