A truck driver was shot and injured in a suspected attempted hijacking on the N3 in Estcourt in the early hours of this Sunday morning.
According to sources, the driver was travelling along the busy highway when armed criminals attempted to stop him.
When the driver refused to comply, the suspects opened fire, shooting through the door and window of the truck.
He was struck in the leg, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which veered off the road.
Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported the injured driver to the hospital.
His condition remains unknown at this stage.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
