truck driver shot in durban

A truck driver has been hospitalised after he was shot two times by alleged truck battery thieves on Pascoe road next to Grindrod Container Depot in Durban last night.

Speaking to SA Trucker from his bedside, the trucker whose name we have withheld, said that he was following the queue to KCT container depot when the thieves pounced.

“I was stuck in the queue when I heard noise on the truck, as I came down to investigate, I saw two men trying to remove batteries from the truck,” he said.

“One of them pointed a gun at me and demanded that I give him my cellphone which I hand in my hands, but I turned around and started running towards Grindrod where there is security

“I heard gunshots but didn’t know I was shot until after running about ten or so steps more then I fell,

He said he only realised he had been shot in the thigh after he fell down and saw the blood on his pants.

Paramedics arrived just after 22h00 and established the truck driver before transferring him to hospital.
